MARKETING
The majority of Risseeuw Boerdery (Pty) Ltd’s grapes and sweet potato yield is exported to the United Kingdom
and European Union.
Supermarkets in South Africa
Currently, WDF is supplying Pick ‘n Pay (PnP) with table grapes and figs; and Freshmark with seasonal sweet
potatoes.
Small Businesses (BEE)
WDF does not sell grapes or sweet potatoes on the city markets. Left-over produce is sold to the informal market
sector per crate. This provides a good opportunity to local small hawkers to expand their own businesses. The
demand in this market is much greater than the supply, indicating the recognition and utilization of the product by
local small entrepreneurs. It has been the policy of WDF to establish this “bakkie market”, providing buyers with
reasonably priced goods, and thereby contributing to BEE.
Figs
Figs are planted under licence from Alternafruit, they are responsible for the marketing of the product.
